Just beuse of an unknown disease, a man in the Philippines is having a lot of trouble with his face bulging three times its normal size.
It is known that Mr. Romulo Pilapil (56 years old), a carpenter from the Philippines, started feeling unwell three years ago when he had itchy eyes and a runny nose.
Initially, doctors diagnosed him with sinusitis and gave him medication. But two weeks later, his condition did not improve and his face began to swell.
Doctors on the island of Leyte where Mr. Romulo lived gave him up and suggested he go to Manila for treatment.
But his family did not have enough money and his condition got worse.
Pilapil gradually lost his sight as his eyelids drooped and he could no longer work. His school-going children also have to work as hired laborers to help support the family. However, he is still not qualified to go to Manila to completely treat this strange disease.
According to doctors, swelling in the face has many causes. some of them are caused by allergies, mainly in the tongue, neck and eyes. Normally, swelling symptoms gradually decrease without treatment. However, in some cases dangerous complications can cause severe swelling and be life-threatening.
Another cause is cellulitis caused by bacteria. If any part of the body becomes inflamed, it can become red, swollen and painful. The skin over the damaged part will begin to swell and become red. The cause may be a wound or animal bite.
Hormone growth disorders can also cause facial deformities. For example, pituitary acromegaly is a condition in which the brain produces too many hormones that cause excessive bone and cell growth. This causes the body to become unusually large.
