- Quang Ninh – Giving gifts to people with disabilities and orphans in difficult circumstances
- The heart-wrenching pain of a mother with two congenitally deaf and mute children
- Their father left, and the three children lived alone with their mother, wishing only to eat well and not have to take shelter from the rain.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (22 years old, living in village 4, Thuan Hung commune, Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province), her child Minh Hung has multiple birth defects. She was born with drooping eyelids, a congenitally lowered chin, a short tongue, a crooked left leg, a concave chest, and signs of deformity in the skull.
When Baby Hung was 2 years old, he spent that much time going to all hospitals, from Hung Yen Obstetrics and Children’s Hospital, to the Private Children’s Hospital,… for treatment. Minh Khoi’s deformities require persistent treatment to have hope. Especially the chest is increasingly concave and the skull is deformed. If not treated, it can threaten the child’s life.

Even though she knew her child’s condition was so serious, only by borrowing money could this poor mother be able to take her child to the hospital. When she ran out of money, Huong sadly asked to take her child back home, in constant worry that caused her to lose food and sleep.
“My child has a shortened tongue and a receding chin, so he can’t breastfeed and has to be fed exclusively with formula. I have to borrow all of the money for hospital fees and milk for my child. Sometimes I don’t have enough money to buy a bag of fresh milk for my child.” , my child cried because he was hungry and I felt like a guilty person…”, Huong felt sad.

Ms. Huong does not have a stable job. For the past 2 years, her mother and her child have made “the hospital their home”, which has multiplied the difficulties. Huong’s entire family can only rely on her husband’s meager salary as a garment worker. But due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, Huong’s husband often has to quit his job, so this income is also extremely unstable.
Ms. Huong’s family’s situation was said by Mr. Dao Manh Duc, Vice Chairman of Thuan Hung Commune People’s Committee: “Huong’s family is a poor household in the commune. Khoi was born unluckily with many deformities and had to be treated very expensively. On behalf of the local government, we would like to sincerely ask the press and benefactors to help fund the child’s continued treatment.”
